Funding for Netball can be a major issue, and at times it can be very complicated. This page should assist groups and individuals in identifying various sources of funding in the local community. CLUBS


Kent netball club funding
Kent Netball has introduced a grant scheme to help support its clubs. The scheme is aimed at existing CAPS clubs, newly registered CAPS clubs, and new start up clubs. Full eligibility criteria and terms and conditions can be found on the application form. Club Funding Form

Kent Club Connect Card
The Club Connect Card is a scheme being run by the Kent Sports Development Unit. The scheme is free to join and all you need to do is register your clubs details and in return receive a range of benefits and club development information. Benefits include discounts on Sports Coach UK and Running Sport Courses in Kent; discounts on clothing and equipment from selected suppliers, and access to resources and support from sports development professionals. CAPS clubs are eligible for the Gold Card, entitling you to even greater discounts. Awards for All
Awards for All is a lottery grants programme aimed at local communities. They fund developmental projects which extend access and participation, increase skills and creativity and improve the quality of life.

Cash 4 Clubs
is a sports grants scheme which gives clubs a chance to win grants up to £1000 for a variety of purposes. Any sports club can apply as long as they are registered with their sport’s NGB or their local authority. Further details can be found at www.cash-4-clubs.com.

COACHES & OFFICIALS

Kent Netball UKCC funding
England Netball have introduced the UKCC Coaching programme and all coaching courses are now administered centrally by England Netball and are delivered regionally. The UKCC is an endorsement of sport-specific coach education and is a UK wide recognised qualification. Core coaching skills are recognised and transferable between sports. Kent Netball wishes to support their affiliated members by providing UKCC course subsidies to help develop coaches across the county. Official Sports London is a bursary opportunity funded by the London Development Agency and Sport England. Official Sports London helps Londoners (33 boroughs) aged 16+ to complete sports officiating qualifications and to volunteer or work as officials. The programme aims to increase the number and skill level of sports officials in London, benefiting both individuals and competitive sports networks of all levels in London. To be eligible you need to:

  *  Be aged 16+ and live in one of the 33 London boroughs
  *  Want to officiate voluntarily for at least 15 hours after qualification and be prepared to
     make links with a sports club / league /other organisation where they intend to 
     officiate
 
  *  Be prepared to make a financial contribution to the costs associated with completing 
     your officiating course and 15 hours of officiating – Official Sports London will fund up 
     to 80% of costs

TALENTED ATHLETES

Kent
FANS Scheme
The FANS scheme is for athletes of all ages who currently perform or compete at a National level, and who live in Kent (excluding the Kent London Boroughs). Local Authority Community Initiatives and Talented Athlete Scholarships
Many Local Authorities and Districts Councils provide small grant schemes for talented athletes. Contact your local authority and ask to speak to their Sports Development Officer. Sports Aid
Sports Aid at both national and regional level provides assistance to aspiring sportsmen and women, betweenthe ages of 12 and 18 years. An example of Grant Funding is support to a talented young athlete with club affiliation fees, equipment, insurance, travel and training costs.

YOUNG PEOPLE


Kent Trust for Youth Sport
The Kent Trust for Youth Sport is a charity that aims to help young people within the county access sports opportunities. Priorities for funding include small grants for individuals to qualify as coaches; funding sports events; helping clubs and individuals in financial need with the cost of kit or equipment; and contributing to the cost of sports development programmes. The Dickie Bird Foundation
The foundation was established 2004 with the aim of helping financially disadvantaged young people under 18 years of age to participate in the sport of their choice irrespective of their social circumstances. Grants are for individuals who are under 18 years of age at the time of making the application. www.thedickiebirdfoundation.org

The Jack Petchey Foundation
The Jack Petchey Foundation, established in 1999, gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25 years. Their Achievement Award scheme is a scheme run through clubs, schools and community projects, and enables those organisations to recognise the effort, endeavour and achievement of their young people Once enrolled on the scheme the school/club etc selects ONE young person to receive an Achievement Award each month. The school/club receives a cheque on behalf of the month’s winner to be spent on a project of the recipient’s choice. The catchment area for awards is the London Boroughs and West Essex. In addition to Achievement Awards the Foundation gives Project Grants and Leaders Awards.
